I've got your back or so they say
but most humans turn & walk away.
We're the only species of every sort 
that kills for meat as well as sport.

Our system and the laws they passed
just makes their persecutions last. 
The day of reckoning must come
when our shed blood no longer runs.

Despite our slogans and the protests
we still live in fear and so cannot rest.
They think more straws won't break the back
of their camels if their camel's black!

The moral compass that they use
shows them our murders on the news.
While those sworn to protect and serve
pass sentences we don't deserve.

With death sanctioned by politicians
who watch us die on their televisions.
Their main concern is just re-election
Not peoples lives or our protection.

With this heritage and our history
the hated they show is no mystery.
The brutalities and their new attacks
has made it clear to watch our backs.

The time has come to call their bluff
And in unity say enough's enough
Whether shot or raped or hung & burned
This time the lesson must be learned.

Let our vote & our voice find equality
as we fight to obtain that reality.
We've paid in blood for freedom earned
We've paid in full it's now our turn.
