In twenty twenty we discovered 
so many things that were kept covered.
Reality cut us like a knife
While so much drama came to life.

Although it started out the same
bad news became our claim to fame.
A year in which we did discover
we lacked respect for one another.

---

In twenty twenty "one disease"
brought all the planet to its knees.
Despite of all both said and done 
we still could not respond as one.

---

Why did it take a year to learn
respect of science & fear of germs.
Was it so great a thing to ask
for everyone to wear a mask.

---

The face of i-n-e-q-u-a-l-i-t-y
revealed its head for all to see. 
As civil rights began to cease
​and protesters opposed police.

---

We loss our jobs and means to earn
& through it all somehow we learned.
To keep the faith and hold the hope
and speak our truth but cast our vote.

---

And now alas a new years come
we'll call it twenty twenty-one.
Whatever comes, we'll  have to take it
this year will be, all that we make it.

Although few changes may appear
we'll label it another year.
no matter how we see it honey
our hindsight will be twenty twenty.
