REMARKS ABOUT MARKS, BENCHMARKS AND LANDMARKS

Any emblem, sign, symbol or other evidence that indicates or distinguishes our existence in the past, present or future is simply our mark. By default we all leave a mark in this life, it's our signature.  Like a tombstone it holds memories or reminders of what we stand for.  We must choose the mark we make or the mark will make the choice for us. Here's a poem that I hope will leave a mark upon our hearts. 

More popular than a central park.
It’s good to have a true landmark.
A place apart that bears a label.
A spot unchanged remaining stable.
 
At times we really need a place.
Only a point in time and space.
A benchmark is the answer then.
A state which we can find again.
 
Most times these marks are all we need.
And yet at times we don’t take heed.
So life invokes new lesson plans.
That puts upon us new demands.
 
Through falling short or losing track.
Discouragement may set us back.
As we take heed the path unfolds.
And progress on to reach our goals.
 
Let's mark this time within our life.
And let it cut us like a knife.
Enlightenment can rise from dark.
This is the time to make our mark.
