MOST TEXT WRITTEN IN DARK GREEN LETTERING ARE LINKSTHERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMETH RIGHT UNTO A MAN...PROVERBS 14:12 Those of us enrolled in the school of life realize that as we matriculate through it, that the way things work is not always as effective or efficient as they should be. "It's my way or the highway," is a paradoxical statement that acknowledges alternate paths or routes to a common objective. We all have our own ways and also know that "there is more than one way to skin a cat." They way we treat one another is indicative of our beliefs and character. The way we carry out tasks are indicative of our competency and energy. Life evolves, and the way we see things and do things evolves and changes with it. There are ways of observing and doing things that require very little change. As a matter of fact, these would not be considered as real changes but rather addendum's or expansions in scope. There are also ways of doing things that should eventually be upgraded, changed or even abandoned. The way we deal with mental illness has drastically changed and needs to keep changing as our understanding of it also evolves. Electrical shock does not appear to be the answer to mental maladies. Society is gradually accepting and embracing people on the "spectrum" as assets. Not only for what they bring to the forum, but also for the way they bring it. Deception, lying and autism doesn't mix well. Some of the most authentic, diligent and trustworthy people are being left out of the mix. The way a society educates and involves its weaker members is indicative of the way that society fosters its care. Advocating for those less capable of advocating for themselves is one way to apply equity and justice. Circumstances, climates and conditions vary from culture to culture, generation to generation and location to location. There should never be a one size fits all in judgement. Applying justice is an art and a skill. True justice is always measured and administered across an un-equal yet equitable scale. This is the criteria we use in disciplining a two year old in contrast to disciplining a ten year old. There are obvious differences in the way we deal with each. The best we can do is to treat one another in a similar fashion. No two issues or people are exactly the same. Some people are destined to experience life in ways we cannot imagine. Dealing with them may require more patience and understanding than normal. Being a victim of slavery, incest or abuse can create life long wounds that may never completely heal. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. This world and this life wounds us all! Sometimes our ways are the greatest obstacles to ourselves. THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD“The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” This quote from Ernest Hemingway speaks volumes when we take the time to read and mediate upon it over and over again. The way we were raised is the way we are destined to end up. Children who exercise principles and learn ways that worked in their youth, will also apply these principles in multiple ways as adults. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." The only caveat with any principle is its applications. So many things that work in our lives only work in certain ways. "Braking" needs friction and "speed" needs power to work! The "so called secret sauce" is understanding the way it works and what season it works best in. "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Timing isn't everything but time is involved in every thing we do. Our sensitivity to seasons is as important as our aspirations over time. We cannot successfully deal with anything we fail to acknowledge and recognize in a timely fashion. This is the same problem we face with identifying the spirit of the day, the zeitgeist and paradigm shifts. We have become excellent at predicting weather and gathering all kinds of data to make all kinds of forecasts. So why do we continue to fall prey to the "spirit of the day." Maybe this is why Jesus labeled us as hypocrites in the 12th chapter of Luke. We can read the sky and predict the weather but ignore the data (facts) that clearly portrays the times we're living in. Most of our issues are not about what to do but how, (the way) to do it. We all want to end gun violence. How (the way) to stop the shooting is the problem. We all want to slow global warming. How (the way) to control global warming is the issue. It's going to cost us all but not equally. This is a real life example that highlights the dilemma we mutually face but do not bare equal responsibility for. Equal denotes an exact or same culpability in a situation. An equitable perspective takes into consideration what's both fair and just for all involved. The easiest way to end abortions is to prevent pregnancies. The answers are not difficult. The solutions (ways) have become the problem. When the intersection of legal, ethical and moral values are in conflict, resolution must come by way of spirit. THERE ARE MULTIPLE WAYS TO APPROACH ANY MATTER There is a right way of doing anything. We all want to have our way. As babies we learned to desire and demand attention through crying tears that manipulated actions on our behalf. We can't always have everything the way we want to. Sometimes it's simply a "my way or the highway" situation. So now that we've distinguished our ways, from other ways, the seem right way and the right way; how do we know which is which. Everyone and everything has a way of dealing, existing and functioning. Directions, instructions or operating manuals are generally provided to teach us how to deal with mechanical and electrical challenges. There seems to be one exception to this rule, and that's when it comes to living LIFE. The way we do things, at least our intentions, are not always the best way of getting the job done. Our way may "seem" to us that it is the best method to accomplish, aid, do or help a situation; but in reality it may not be. Our way of giving or receiving assistance can be easily clouded by an incorrect narrative filtered through our personal perspective. Our way may only be "the seem right way." Life is composed of visible tangible objects sustained by invisible yet detectable energy operating in a multitude of known, logical, mysterious and incomprehensible ways. The way life operates and exists across multiple planes is the phenomena this post is exploring. Naturally tangible matter, emotionally felt thoughts and spiritually transmitted energy all function in ways we are still learning about. There is only one way into or out of life. But there are many ways of dealing with what life brings to us through joy, pleasure, anger, hurt, loss and pain. The more we understand about how, the way, something operates or affects us the better we can deal with it. There is a spiritual realm that is often neglected in our everyday affairs. This realm is full of spirits that operate in different ways. Understanding the ways they operate will help us to better recognize their manifestations and gain the most from our interactions with them. Spirits are like behaviors or personalities that want expression. Spirits desire. It is important to distinguish them separately and not call or define them based on the faculties they affect. Personalities and behaviors are not spirit. Spirits take advantage of our attitudes, disposition and feelings to act upon. We have two choices when dealing with spirits. We either work with and manipulate them or let them use and manipulate us. DISTRACTIONS, LURES, WILES AND SEDUCTION - THE WAYS SPIRITS WORK Not knowing our enemy leaves us at somewhat of a disadvantage. Not acknowledging our enemy leaves us at a certain disadvantage. Many of us are successful in waging a war against many of our sins. When we are challenged and confronted with them, we acknowledge, abandon and no longer practice them. But the generational curse of iniquity is not an easy stronghold to break. Ignorance of this fact has caused many sincere believers to backslide and fall short. Knowledge has multiple sides to it! Like a coffin; It's the one thing the maker doesn't want, the purchaser doesn't need and the person it's for doesn't know. What we sometimes assume to be fact from an emotional, logical or rational basis may not be true. Why we yarn, is one of those questions that we think we know the answer to until we really look into it. Many of us do not understand healing. Healing is a naturally occurring regenerating and restorative energy affecting body, mind and spirit. Healing is both constant and cyclic in that it is a part of our rheumatic system. Most healing is not miraculous. Healing is not a miracle. Although the healing process is an amazing and phenomenal operation, healing is not the exception it is the norm. We should expect healing whenever we are injured in any way. Sleep is a part of our daily healing process. This may be why when we are emotionally disturbed the first thing affected is our sleep. Some of us loose sleep when stressed and some of us sleep through our stress. Spirit is involved in all human matters. It is the expression of a balance between our thoughts, behaviors, physical and emotional feelings along with metabolic processes. This also includes sleep, perception and all psychic abilities. Don't be deceived by the obvious difference between tangible, visible natural matter and invisible, virtual spiritual substance. There is balance between the natural and spiritual world in the same way that our hearts maintains balance with our lungs. Although the heart's primary job is to pump blood and the lungs primary job is to pump air, if there is not enough oxygen in the air provided by the lungs for the heart to pump, our organs, thinking and the entire body will suffer. Not recognizing the role that spirit plays in the ways we function, operate, process thought and feel leaves us at the mercy of our imagination and superstition. Spirits have their own agenda and are wily by nature. The way spirits work generally vary from one individuals circumstance to another, but there are common tactics they all use. Spirits do not play fair. Like gangsters they team up against us to exert their will over ours. One of the most common ways they influence our attitude is to divide and conquer. This tactic usually involves attaching feelings to emotions that perpetuate fear. Yes, fear is a feeling and a spirit as well. A spirit of fear can cause us not to do what's best or to actually do something detrimental to our own wellbeing. When the "spirit of alcoholism" gets out of control it can act as self destructive as a drug addict on heroine. Most therapies involve acting and moving in ways we may not feel like doing but are needed to promote the natural process of healing. Intellectually we know that we must work to rehabilitate and restore that range of motion but physically we are reluctant to endure the hardship and the pain required to fully heal. Although these two behaviors are juxtaposed to one another, the spirits that are operating behind the scenes are in harmony with one another. Although spirits may appear to be working against one another their intentions are unified. The more we understand about the ways of spirit, the ways of the world, our own seem right ways and the way life actually balances, the better. Spirits have ways of manipulating us by working our own iniquities against us. We are spiritual beings in human bodies with intellectual minds. The primary and most important aspect of it all is that we are spiritual beings first. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.For the Lord knoweth the "way" of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Righteous people are not perfect. A righteous person should be considered to be a flawed individual with a particular trait. Righteousness refers to both the conduct, consciousness and ways embodied by an individual or organization. Righteousness is another way (perspective) of looking at, deliberating on and dealing with things in a "spirit of love" regardless of how others behave. Righteousness will always be accompanied by forgiveness and surrounded by grace. There is no righteous human, no not one. Our righteousness is as filthy rags (used Tampons). But we can act or behave righteously and emulate righteousness in our spirit. A common error many people make in dealing with their shortcomings is to only focus on sin without addressing iniquity. Sin can be defined as "falling short" or "missing the mark." We all make mistakes and fall into error. Some of us even practice behaviors that we know are detrimental to both our physical and spiritual health, like smoking cigarettes. Practicing sin is what most of us concentrate on targeting and correcting. However, we must deal with the other side of the coin which arises from our innate tendencies, called iniquity. Like genetics this is our inborn nature and must also be addressed. The flip side of the "coin of transgressions" is called iniquity. This is what escapes most peoples attention. Some of our ways, sentiments and attitudes are built in and inherited. Some might say that iniquity in our DNA. This is the way we were born! Not only must we deal with the sins we commit, we must also address the innate tendencies within us that we've inherited. This is the way we are constructed. This is why many of us succumb to spiritual sicknesses which sooner or later manifests physically. This may be why we eventually die. Iniquity might be described in some ways as spiritual genetics. A "born again" experience allows us to be grafted into a new "True Vine" but we must also be aware that iniquity resides in our flesh.
