CHANGING TO HEALING AND FORGIVENESS

IT'S CHANGING!

It's time to bow to changes
uncertain as it feels
this is our evolution
and so to change we yield.

It's​ changes to our customs
in ways we used to meet
relating to our neighbors
in a way we ought to treat.

It won't be the legislation
or the new laws that we pass
It won't be in the justice
​when we see it work at last.

---

It won't be in the vengeance
we can't even up the score
It won't be in the protests
though they open many doors

It can't be superficial
everyone must play a part
It must be universal
It should be a change of heart

It calls for a commitment
to the future not the former
the lessons of true history
will only make us stronger 

---

It calls for understanding
with compassion that is real
the way we live & love we give
will help us all to heal

---

It teaches moral lessons
of the way we ought to live
Incorporates how not to hate
​while learning to forgive.

---

It's modeling behavior
for all the world to see
with prayer & care as reasons
to bow or bend a knee.

---

It's forming a society
that we can all call real
It's changes to the narrative
​expressing how we feel.
